Teams and agencies

Your AI agent writes, the prompter is ready – MCP and the teleprompter

Short answer: MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open way to give an AI assistant tools. Color Teleprompter's MCP server has 16 tools: your agent can read the library, create and update scripts, write a script with AI and return a link the presenter opens in colour without an account. Keys are created in the workspace settings on the Studio and Agency plans.

What is MCP?

MCP is an open protocol that lets an AI assistant use outside tools. Add an MCP server to your assistant and it sees the server's tools and calls them itself – "save this script" or "give me the prompter link".

The agent writes the script, and it's waiting in the prompter, ready to read.

What can an agent do in Color Teleprompter?

  • Write a script with AI (generate_script) from a topic, target length and tone – and save it to the right category.
  • Create and update scripts (create_script, update_script), cue markers included.
  • Return a prompter link (get_prompter_link) the presenter opens without an account.
  • Work out reading time (estimate_reading_time) at three speeds before the text reaches the camera.
  • Search, schedule and archive scripts in the library.

What do teams use it for?

  1. Sales agent: writes every prospect their own 40-second video message and sends the rep the prompter links.
  2. Content agent: drafts the week's scripts on Monday and schedules them for shoot day.
  3. Agency: when the client approves the copy, your system updates the script and the presenter's link shows the new version.

How do I connect my agent?

Open Settings → API & MCP, create a key and choose its scopes (read, write, AI). Add the server address and key to your MCP client. Ready-made configs and the full tool list are in the API docs.

Is it secure?

Every key belongs to one workspace and only sees its scripts. Scopes are set per key, and you can revoke a key at any time. The key is shown once and isn't stored in plain text.
